Before last year’s hurricane season struck Puerto Rico, the first US territory to be hit hard was the US Virgin Islands. As the controversy over the failed US response to give relief to Puerto Rico continues to unfold, almost no coverage has been given to the 100,000+ Americans in the USVI. The LMC speaks with poet and novelist Tiphanie Yanique about what we need to know about her home islands.
