Migrant children are still missing. Families are still separated. On this episode, the LMC speaks with librettist Anna Deeny Morales and attorney Sergio Garcia to discuss the opera “Zavala Zavala” and why we need to continue talking about migrant family separation.

Anna Deeny Morales is also a Center for Latin American Studies fellow and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Sergio Garcia is an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Texas.

In recent week, the Republican led anti-CRT movement has extended itself to attack and defund historically black colleges and universities. So on this episode, the LMC speaks with professors Will Guzman and Nolan Cabrera to discuss how these recent attacks parallel the banning of ethnic studies in Arizona during the mid 2000s.
