March 14th, 2025: The Life & Legacy of Schafik Handal

Salvadoran. Palestinian. Revolutionary. On this episode, the LMC speaks with Amy Fallas, a Salvadoran-Costa Rican writer, editor, and historian, on the political legacy of Schafik Handal and his amazing role in creating solidarity with resistance movements between El Salvador and the Middle East during the 1980s.

Amy Fallas is also an assistant editor at the Arab Studies Journal and a PhD candidate in history at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

On this episode, the LMC welcomes freelance writer Nyki Duda and Emiliano Aguilar, a political and labor historian, to discuss Mexican repatriation in the 1930s in Indiana and how recent events mirror this dark chapter in American history almost a century later.

Emiliano Aguilar is also an assistant professor in the history department at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
